The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources said studies were conducted on several areas where lithium is available, but more extensive studies are required to provide accurate figures of lithium amounts, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.
Lithium is expected to be among the minerals found under the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) and the related exploration initiatives.
Earlier this year, the ministry said that the Kingdom has mineral wealth of almost SAR 5 trillion across more than 5,300 sites, including gold, silver, copper, zinc, phosphate, beauxite and silica, Argaam earlier reported.
In April, Saudi Arabia announced entering into an agreement with Lucid to purchase a minimum of 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) and up to 100,000 electric vehicles over a 10-year period in an effort to diversify its fleet to be more environmentally friendly.
